Are you interested in traveling to Ambergris Caye, Belize, but uncertain how to make it to the island? You can travel confidently knowing Las Terrazas Resort makes all of your transfer arrangements, from air to land to sea. Here’s how your adventure will begin:

First things first. The attendants on your international flight should supply you with the arrival paperwork needed to pass through Immigration and Customs once you reach Belize, but be sure to have a pen with you on the plane to allow for maximum efficiency.

Upon landing at Philip S. W. Golden Airport, also known as Belize International Airport (BZE), you will deplane onto the runway and immediately be charmed by their quaint arrival area that is roughly the size of a high school gymnasium. From there, you will proceed to Immigration, and the wait goes quickly - one of the many perks of traveling to a small country!  At just 8,867 square miles, Belize is about the same size as the U.S. state of Massachusetts or Wales in the U.K., making travel in and out of the country much more efficient than larger destinations.

After collecting your luggage, you will proceed to the nearby Customs line, but don't worry - this is another breezy process. Once you pass through Customs, you will arrive at the ticketing counters. Simply check in for your flight with the airline we booked for you (either Tropic Air or Maya Island Air), proceed through security (yes, you’ll be asked to remove your shoes one more time), and enter the departure lounge. From there you can promptly start your vacation with Rum Punch or Belikin Beer at the famous Jet's Bar. There are also small shops that sell Belizean-themed souvenirs as well as snacks. Grab a Coke in a glass bottle and a bag of plantain chips and listen for the airline to call your flight over the loudspeaker.

This is definitely a flight you won't want to sleep through, and here’s a tip to make it extra fun: ask the pilot if you can sit up front - they may let you sit in the co-pilot seat if you ask! The flight to the island of Ambergris Caye is just 20 minutes long, the view of the Caribbean Sea's aquamarine waters and the Belize Barrier Reef below will take your breath away. The right side of the plane shows off the lagoon, the Maya Mountains, and views of the mainland, while the left side will wow you with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea so be sure to have your camera ready. Don’t be worried to look like a tourist – everyone else on the plane will be snapping away as well!

Upon landing at San Pedro Airstrip, you will deplane and be met by our wonderful driver, Walter. He will have a Las Terrazas sign in hand as well as on his van for easy identification, but what makes him stand out even more than our logo is the fact that he will greet you like family. Walter will quickly collect your luggage and get you cozied in for the short van ride to the local marina.

From there, the resort's private boat and Captain will meet you for the 10-minute boat ride to Las Terrazas. This last leg of the trip will give you a taste of the Caribbean that will have you begging to spend your entire trip on the waters - and there are plenty of excursions to help you do just that! Lastly, upon your arrival at Las Terrazas, you will be personally welcomed by our warm and professional staff who will collect your luggage and offer you a Rum Punch and cold eucalyptus towel as they escort you to the open air Palapa Lobby for check in.
